Since its establishment of GIPS, Guwahati in 2007, the Department of Pharmaceutics has been actively working to support high-quality pharmacy education and research activities. We offer a training environment that includes the latest formulation laboratory instrumentation and technologies supervised by experienced teachers and dedicated staff.
The Department has M Pharm Pharmaceutics specializations (Established 2011) having intake of 15, besides diploma course (D Pharm) and undergraduate (B Pharm) and B.Pharm (Practice). It also offers Ph.D Program. The department is equipped with the state of art laboratories, ultra-modern facilities, machine room, Pilot Plant and competent staff which have been recognized by various authorities. The department is presently headed by Professor (Dr.) Bhanu P Sahu who has good experience in Academics and Research on Drug Delivery along with other experienced and competent faculties.

Besides, the Department is engaged in numerous research projects that investigate the natural resources of the north-eastern states as well as country’s other regions and also exploring various unique drug delivery approaches.
The department undertakes research projects and consultancy projects from various agencies and is engaged in quality publications. The department has marked its importance in research activities and IPR in the area of drug delivery. It has set up research collaborations within the university, with other universities and Industries.
FACILITIES
The Department is equipped with well equipped facilities with advanced laboratory instruments that include HPLCs, Rotary Evaporators, Bilayer Tablet punching machines, Multi station punching machines, High speed homozenisers, Sonnicators, Lyophilizer besides the general facilities for preparation of Conventional and Novel dosage forms. Moreover, the Department is also having Pilot Plant facilities for production and evaluation of oral solid dosage forms Tablets and capsules.
