About Bina Chowdhury Central Library 

With the union of the earlier GIMT Library and GIPS Library in the year 2018 as one library, the central library is renamed as Bina Chowdhury Central Library (BCCL) in the loving memory of  Late Bina Chowdhury, founder president of Srimanta Shankar Academy (SSA).   1. A.  Rules for Lending Books·         During working days - 8:30 am – 7:30 pm (Morning Shift- 8:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m, Evening Shift- 12:00 noon- 7:30 p.m)·         During Weekend and Vacation - 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. 3.      Each member will have one Library Master Card.5.      Student Members must come to the library personally and tender his/her own Library Master Card at Circulation Counter at the time of transaction.7.      Loose issues of Journals/Periodicals are not meant for issue.

    A2. Library Fine

    1. Three times the cost of the book if book is in print.
    2. Four times the cost of the book, if the book is out of print.
    3. If the book of a multi-volume set is lost or damaged, the member concerned shall be liable to replace the whole set or pay the cost of the same on the above line.

    B.   GENERAL RULES

    1. All kinds of personal belongings except notebook are supposed to be kept in the Property Counter at the entrance.
    2. Register your name at the Library Gate Register before entrance.
    3. Keeping Silence is must inside the library.
    4. Use of Mobile Phone is strictly prohibited inside the library.
    5. Member shall not smoke or spite in any part of the library.
    6. While browsing books, no book should be replaced by the user on the stack themselves. Users are requested to use the OPAC facility provided by the Library to search a book available in the library.
    7. The physical condition of the book should be good while checking out. Mutilation of pages if founds must be brought to the notice of the circulation in-charge. Otherwise, the borrower himself/herself shall be responsible for mutilation of the book if detected afterwards.
    8. Underlining, marking, folding of pages, etc. in the book is strictly prohibited.
    9. Upon any infringement of the library rules, members shall forfeit privileges of admission and membership of the library.
    10. The Assistant Librarian reserves the right to suspend or delinquent membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
    11. The members caught tearing of pages/stealing books or otherwise mutilating books will be suspended forthwith from using library facilities and further disciplinary action will be initiated against him/her by the Institute.
  2. A fine of Rs. 2/- day will be charged as Late Fine if the Borrowers do not return/ renew the books as per the rule of the Library. Moreover, if the fines cross the maximum limit of Rs. 500.00 then the Borrower’s Membership will be temporarily suspended.
     A3. Loss of Library Master Card
    The loss of Library Master Card should be reported immediately in writing to the Assistant Librarian and a fine of Rs. 50/- will be charged for re-issue of a new card.?
    A4. Loss or Damage of Borrowed Books
    The Loss of books borrowed by a user in his/her custody, the borrower shall be liable to replace the book or bear the cost of replacement is not done within 15 days, the defaulter will be charged as follows;
  3.  A Library Clearance Certificate may be issued to members only on returning all books borrowed and surrendering the Library Master Card.
  4. The Assistant Librarian may recall any book from the member at any time.
  5. Master Card is not transferable.
  6. The Privilege of borrowing books from the library is restricted to the registered members only
  7. During Examinations - 8:30 am – 7:30 pm. (Morning Shift- 8:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m, Evening Shift- 12:00 noon- 7:30 p.m)

A3. Springer Nature : Springer Nature is a leading global academic and educational publisher dedicated to endow with the best possible services to the whole research community. They are the largest open access research publisher and home to Scientific Reports, the world’s largest open access journal.

The library has access to 328 no.s of e-journals related to Computer Science, Engineering  & Technology and MBA.

  1. OPEN ACCESS E-RESOURCES

Open Access Resources are the academic articles (research outputs) which are distributed online, free of costs or other barriers, and, with the addition of an open license applied to promote reuse. The open access E-resources can be accessed by going through the link given below:

  • Directory of Open Access Journals : DOAJ is an online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Open Access Journals Search Engine: The Open Access Journals Search Engine (OAJSE) service covers free, full text, quality controlled journals.
  • NISCAIR Online Periodicals Repository: Here users can access full test articles from research journals published by CSIR-NISCAIR. NOPR also hosts three Popular Science Magazines viz. Science Reporter (SR), Vigyan Pragati (VP) & Science Ki Duniya (SKD), and a Natural Products Repository (NPARR).
  • Free ebooks by Project Gutenberg: Project Gutenberg offers over 49,000 free eBooks: choose among free epub books, free kindle books, download them or read them online.
  • Shodhganga (Indian ETD Repository: Access to Fulltext Ph.D Thesis submitted to universities in India.
  • National Digital Library of India: Ministry of Human Resource Development under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology has initiated the National Digital Library (NDL) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility.
  • Digital Library of: Digital Library of India, part of the online services of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in co-operation with CMU, IIT-H, NSF, ERNET and MCIT for the Govt. of India and 21 major participating centers, provides free access to many books in English and Indian languages.
  • e-PG Pathshala: e-PG Pathshala contains high quality, curriculum-based interactive content in different subjects across all disciplines of social sciences, arts, fine arts & humanities, natural & mathematical sciences, linguistics and languages.
