Biography

Dr. Hemanga Hazarika, a distinguished pharmaceutical researcher and educator, joined Girijananda Chowdhury University’s School of Pharmaceutical Sciences on October 1, 2021. With an impressive 8-year career in Research and Education, Dr. Hazarika excels in advancing drug development knowledge and nurturing future pharmaceutical professionals.

After completing his M. Pharm., Dr. Hazarika gained proficiency in quality control at the Regional Drug Testing Laboratory, Govt. of India, Guwahati. As a Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Fellow (from 2016 to 2021) at the Defence Research Laboratory, Tezpur, he contributed significantly to pioneering pharmaceutical formulation research.

In April 2022, Dr. Hazarika earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Dibrugarh University. His research on eco-friendly mosquito control showcased his commitment to innovation. Currently an Assistant Professor, he also coordinates the Research and Innovation Cell at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur constituent campus.

Dr. Hazarika’s research interests include natural product development, non-target toxicity studies, and insect odorant receptors. His dedication extends to cultivating excellence in pharmaceutical science education. By crafting effective teaching strategies and mentoring students, he shapes the industry’s future.

Acknowledged with the SOMA Young Scientist Award 2022, by the Society of Medical Arthropodology (SOMA), Hyderabad, Dr. Hazarika holds a noteworthy publication record in national and international journals, with a h-index of 9(Google Scholar). He is a regular member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), a lifetime member of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), and SOMA.
