Biography

Dr. Hemanga Hazarika is an Associate Professor in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Girijananda Chowdhury University-Tezpur campus, Assam, where he has been serving since October 1, 2021. He has more than ten years of experience in pharmaceutical research and higher education.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Dibrugarh University in April 2022. He previously worked as a DRDO Fellow (2016–2021) at the Defence Research Laboratory, Tezpur, and gained professional experience at the Regional Drug Testing Laboratory, Government of India, Guwahati. His areas of research include natural product development, eco-friendly vector control, non-target toxicity studies, insect odorant receptors, and dermatological safety evaluation.

Dr. Hazarika has published 10 research papers and 6 review articles in SCI-indexed journals, contributed 4 book chapters published by Springer, CRC Press, and Elsevier, and holds one Indian patent. As of December 2025, he has 367 citations with an h-index of 11 (Google Scholar). He also serves as the Coordinator, NBA and Research and Innovation Cell at the Tezpur constituent campus of the University.

He holds important editorial responsibilities as an Editorial Board Member (Community Reviewer) for Frontiers in Pharmacology (Ethnopharmacology section) and as a Guest Associate Editor for Frontiers in Medicine – Infectious Diseases: Pathogenesis and Therapy. He is the Editor of ongoing academic book projects with CRC Press (Taylor & Francis) and Springer Nature, focusing on pharmaceutical science, drug delivery systems, insect repellents, and human toxicity. He also acts as a peer reviewer for reputed international journals published by Nature, Elsevier, Springer, and Taylor and Francis.

Dr. Hazarika is a recipient of the SOMA Young Scientist Award 2022 and is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), and the Society of Medical Arthropodology (SOMA). His ORCID iD is 0000-0002-5761-9790.
