His Excellency, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam is the Visitor of Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam. Born in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan in 1944, Shri Kataria had the portfolio of the Home minister in the Government of Rajasthan twice, from 2004 to 2008 and further, from 2014 to 2018. He had also served in the Cabinet Ministry of Rajasthan as the Minister of Primary & Secondary Education from 1993 to 1998, Minister of Public Works Department from 2003 to 2004, and Minister of Rural Development from 2013 to 2014. He had been an eight-time Member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Furthermore, he had been a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from the Udaipur Constituency during 1989 to 1991. Shri Kataria assumed Office as the 31st Governor of Assam on February 22, 2023.
