Admissions for pursuing Ph.D. at Girijananda Chowdhury University will take place through the GCU-RET (Girijananda Chowdhury University-Research Entrance Test) to be notified in due course of time. A minimum of 50% marks is to be obtained by examinees in the entrance test for being eligible to be called for interview. The decision of the university in deciding the number of eligible candidates shall be final should there arise any issue in regard to availability of seats.
Candidates can opt for either the Full time or Part time mode of study, the duration of which shall be not less than three years and not more than six years in either case. Relaxations will be allowed as per UGC norms in special cases but in no way will the duration of the course should exceed eight years.
The following criteria are eligible for any candidate to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme to GCU (Assam):
Note: The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures, if any.
