Prof. Bhanu P Sahu currently holds the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University in Guwahati. His journey with the institution began in February 2009. Dr. Sahu’s dedication to education is evident as he imparts knowledge across a spectrum of courses including Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy, and B Pharm Pharmacy Practice. Before assuming this role, he served as a Lecturer at Atmiya University in Rajkot, Gujarat.

In 2015, he earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Dibrugarh University. Prior to this, he completed his M. Pharm. and B. Pharm. degrees at the same department in 2004 and 2008, respectively. During his postgraduate studies, his research involved Nasal Delivery system and the application of natural mucoadhesive substances in designing controlled delivery gels. Subsequently, during his Ph.D., he focused on Nanomedicine for enhancement of bioavailability of antihypertensive drugs. His pursuit of knowledge extended with a Postdoctorate at the Institute of Drug Research, Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, from 2018 to 2020. Here, he worked on Advanced Nanomedicine systems and extensively explored Pharmacokinetics studies.

In addition to his role as an educator, Dr. Sahu is an active researcher, with a keen interest in Controlled and Site-specific drug delivery for anticancer, antibiofilm, and neuroprotective drugs, particularly phytochemicals. His current research area encompasses development of nanomedicine systems including nanoconjugates, proliposomes, Lipid Polymeric Hybrid (LPH) Nanoparticles, Carbon Quantum Dots, and Dry Powder Inhalers (DPI). His contributions to the field have been recognized through funding from prestigious sources such as DST Nanomission, DST-FIST, and AICTE. Dr. Sahu also guides numerous Ph.D. and postgraduate scholars and has a robust publication record with research papers in esteemed journals and authored book chapters with reputable international publishers.

Beyond his academic and research pursuits, Dr. Sahu actively participates in various developmental initiatives at Girijananda Chowdhury University, making him an indispensable asset to the institution.
