Prof. Amar Saikia has joined as Dean (Academics) & Professor, Department of Physics, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam on July, 2024. Dr. Saikia was the former Principal of Dispur College, Dispur from 2006 to 2022.

He has worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Arya Vidyapith College from 1988 to 2006. He has completed B.Sc and M.Sc in Physics from Gauhati University. He has received his doctoral degree from Gauhati University in 1991.

He has published research works in many reputed and renowned journals. He has participated in many workshops and conferences. He was a member of different committees from Swahid J N Homeopathic Medical & Hospital Government College, Regional Science Centre, Govt. of India, Physics Academy of North East, Assam Physical Academy, Indian Association of Physics Teachers, State Bank of India, Staff Selection Commission (NER), Centre of Plasma Physics, DAE, Govt. of India and Shishu Shiksha Samiti.
