Biography

Dr. Rajat Subhra Dutta joined the School of Pharmaceutical Science at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur Campus as an Assistant Professor on March 2023. He is currently teaching and learning courses such as Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Physical Pharmaceutics, and Novel Drug Delivery System for B.Pharm students, and Social Pharmacy for D.Pharm students.

Dr. Dutta brings around 12 years of diverse experience in industry, teaching, and research. Prior to his current role, he worked as a Research Fellow under the LSRB-DRDO project at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University. His notable research there included the development of a novel mosquito-repellent formulation.

He also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the Regional Institute of Paramedical And Nursing Sciences (RIPANS) in Aizawl, An autonomous institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for five years. His teaching portfolio included Physical Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics for B.Pharm, and Research Methodology, Modern Pharmaceutics, Advanced Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Computer Aided Drug Delivery System, Drug Regulatory Affairs and IPR for M.Pharm included in PCI (Old and New) syllabus for M.Pharm students.

He has guided six M.Pharm students and fourteen B.Pharm students to the successful completion of their dissertation work. He has also played significant roles such as Paper Setter, Examiner, Moderation Board Member at Mizoram University, and served as Research Advisory Committee Member, ISO 9001:2015 process owner, SWAYAM Co-ordinator, Students Placement Co-ordinator at RIPANS.

His professional experience extends to industry, where he worked as a Quality Assurance Chemist at Quality Pharma Products Pvt. Ltd. in Dibrugarh, Assam for two years. There, he was involved in quality control and quality assurance activities related to manufacturing liquid orals and ointments, from dispensing to dispatch.

Dr. Dutta earned his B.Pharm, M.Pharm (Pharmaceutics), and Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University. His research focuses on natural products, polymers, biomaterials, drug delivery systems, nanoformulations, and dosage form design. He has published numerous research and review articles in reputed national and international journals, with a cumulative impact factor of 42.5. He is also a life member of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association and a reviewer for various international journals.

Apart from his professional endeavors, Dr. Dutta has a passion for cricket. He has played for Zemabawk Pitchers Cricket Club in Aizawl and managed the RIPANS Men’s Cricket Team to a championship victory in the 4th Intervarsity Cricket Tournament in 2018. He also enjoys acting and songwriting, having directed and written lyrics for a music video ‘RIPANS RELIVED’ published by RIPANS Aizawl on You Tube.

Dr. Dutta is currently serving as the Nodal Officer for the National Scholarship Portal (Tezpur Campus), Coordinator of the Training and Career Guidance Cell (Tezpur Campus), and a member of both the Anti-Ragging Committee and the Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee at Tezpur Campus.

Dr. Dutta’s multifaceted expertise and active engagement in both his professional and extracurricular pursuits underscore his commitment to excellence in education, research, and community involvement.
