Greetings! On behalf of the faculty members, staff and students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, I welcome you all to the vibrant world of CSE. Students in the CSE department are encouraged to think creatively while retaining a solid foundation in computer science. I think the CSE field has gained widespread acceptance as a vital resource and method for the gains in all areas of human endeavour, both now and in the future. Every student at CSE has the chance to succeed in their academic endeavours. While this is the department where students publish papers in international publications, the environment is equally beneficial for those hoping to get recognition in extracurricular or co-curricular activities. The department of CSE as a whole aims at the development of Ace Computer Science Professionals with ethical values & societal concern.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in September 2006 with the programme Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) under the affiliation of Gauhati University. To make a significant contribution to social upliftment through education, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering started offering Master of Engineering (M.E.) programme in Computer Science and Engineering in July 2012 under the affiliation of Gauhati University. In 2013, as per the Govt. of Assam notification, the department started offering Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degrees under the affiliation of Assam Science and Technology University. In 2019, the department started offering a Ph.D. programme in Computer Science and Engineering under the affiliation of Assam Science and Technology University. The department received provisional accreditation from NBA for the year 2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 and then further for 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022. The department has produced a good number of competent and excellent professionals. The department has a good environment for research. Currently the department is functioning under the School of Engineering and Technology of Girijananda Chowdhury University w.e.f. 1st April 2023.
