Biography

Mr. Adarsh Pradhan has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati (formerly Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology), since 2008. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from N.E.H.U. and Master of Technology in Information Technology from Tezpur University in the year 2005 and 2008, respectively. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. from Gauhati University. He firmly adheres to the educational methodology of outcome-based learning (OBE), which clearly articulates the idea of what skills and knowledge the students are expected to know and will be able to achieve. This effectively helps to measure whether the students are able to achieve the desired goals after taking the course. He has been actively involved as a coordinator for the National Board of Education (NBA) for the Institution since 2014. He has also mentored students in three AICTE, Smart India Hackathons, from 2017 to 2019. Another important attribute that he always tries to inculcate in his students is the importance of research activities. Some of the domains on which he has carried out research activities with his students are Deep Learning, Healthcare, Image Processing, Speech Recognition, etc. There are 15 research publications and 7 book chapters in his name. He was the PI (Principal Investigator) in two TEQIP-III-funded research projects, which were completed in 2021. One of the projects was Diabetic Retinopathy Detection and the other was Lung Cancer Detection using CT-Scans. Apart from research activities he has organized as well as participated as an expert in many Workshops and Seminars and was also a subject expert in the evaluation work for the translation of first-year engineering SWAYAM courses in regional languages. He has membership in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
