The Department of Business Administration started functioning from July 2008 with a mission to impart quality education in a stimulating and innovative environment where students can be empowered with knowledge and professional skills that are required to be a good manager and administrator. Initially, the department offered a full-time MBA Programme under Gauhati University and Assam Science and Technology University. The course offers dual specialization in the areas of Finance, Human Resource, Marketing and Production.
The Department boasts of its excellent young team of Faculty members with interdisciplinary background who are drawn from the premier institutes. ‘The urge to learn and make others learn’ has been the motto of our teaching fraternity. Moreover, the Faculty represents an excellent conglomerate of industry-academia exposures. Accordingly, the latest trends in Management education are incorporated in our teaching methodology. This, however, was reflected from the fact that our first batch of MBA students has the distinction of securing top positions (1st & 3rd) in GU MBA Final Examination and getting job offers from various reputed organisations. Our subsequent batches of young managers have also come out very successfully in the University Examination and almost all of them have been placed in reputed organisations.
To produce leaders who possess knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to adapt to the dynamic business environment and thereby contribute towards the growth of the nation.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Business Administration, GCU, Assam. We, as a Department, started our journey in the year of 2008 (under GIMT, Guwahati) when we offered Two-year full-time MBA programme. Over the last 15 years, we have developed our expertise and competence in the core curriculum and research with focus on moulding young minds into competent, creative and result-oriented professionals and vested with necessary skills and universal values that are required to cater to the needs of the global economy. At present, the Department offers BBA, MBA and PhD. Programmes.
The Department has a long tradition of excellence and is committed to providing a stimulating and vibrant intellectual environment for students and researchers. To strengthen our teaching and research, we revise the curriculum and initiate necessary changes in our teaching-learning and evaluation processes at regular intervals. Moreover, in alignment with future employment trends, our BBA and MBA Programmes are designed to provide students with a broad vision, knowledge and fundamental skills required in the field of management. In fact, the most rewarding result of this endeavour of ours is the successful placements of our students – many of whom have joined organisations of repute, while some have taken up their own entrepreneurial ventures – and thereby they carry forward our legacy of professional and academic commitment.
