Biography

Mr. Faruk Ahmed is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, Girijananda Chowdhury University. He has been working at the Department since1st August, 2014 and currently teaches Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Advanced Corporate Accounting, Tax planning and Management, along with marketing specialisation papers.

Mr. Faruk completed his MBA with Dual Specializations in Finance and Marketing from the Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, affiliated to Gauhati University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from the Department of Commerce, Gauhati University and his research area focuses inthe Significance of Commercial Banks in the Rural Economic Development of Assam. Mr. Ahmed completed his under-graduate degree (B. Com) under Gauhati University.

During his academic career, Mr. Faruk has presented several research papers in the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) sponsored National Seminars and also published papers and a book chapter in National and International Journals of repute. Mr. Faruk has attended a number of Faculty Development Programmes; AICTE sponsored Short-term Training Programmes on Teaching and Research; academic workshops; seminars and conferences.

Mr. Faruk was appointed by the Government of Assam twice consecutively, as an Observer for Management Aptitude and also as an Observer for APDCL/APGCL State Level Selection Tests. Further, he was also invited as a Resource Person in the prestigious ‘Pradip Chandra Das Memorial Lecture’.

Apart from academics, Mr. Faruk is a sports enthusiast who enjoys playing cricket and is an active member of the Faculty Cricket Team, which won the title of Runners Up in S N Baruah Memorial Faculty Cricket Tournament in 2018 and 2019. Mr. Faruk is also a nature admirer and loves to devote time in planting and nurturing trees. In his spare time, Mr. Faruk enjoys reading novels and exploring new places.
