Biography

Dr. Abhinav Sarma joined the Department of Business Administration, Girijananda Chowdhury University in March 2023 as an Assistant Professor (Management). At present he is teaching, Human Resource Management, Performance Appraisal, Training and Development, Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Change and Development and other General Management Papers.

Abhinav had done his MBA with dual specializations in Human Resource Management and Marketing Management from NERIM under Dibrugarh University and he completed his Ph.D. from Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University. His area of research was in Human Resource Management in the Hospitals of Assam- A comparative study of Public and Private sector Hospitals.

Prior to joining Girijananda Chowdhury University, Abhinav had a professional experience of more than 9.5 years including industry and academics. He started his career as an Executive- HR in GNRC Hospitals and then as an Assistant Manager- HR in Nemcare Hospitals Private Ltd. He had an academic experience of more than 7 years as an Assistant Professor in Assam down town University and then as an Assistant Professor in Don Bosco Institute of Management (A constituent unit of Assam Don Bosco University). Abhinav, during his academic career has also presented research papers in AICTE sponsored and ICSSR sponsored National Seminars. He has also attended a number of Faculty Development Programmes, Management Development Programmes and Corporate Seminars. Dr. Abhinav also attended an awareness program on “Accreditation of Hospital/ SHCO” conducted by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) a constituent board of Quality Council of India (An autonomous body under Ministry of Commerce and Industry).

Abhinav had conducted various training programmes as a Resource Person. He imparted training on the topic “Effective Communication” to the NSS Volunteers as a part of the programme “Capacity Building of Youth on Leadership and Personality Development through Life Skills” conducted by National Service Scheme (NSS), Regional Directorate, Guwahati. He also imparted training on the topic “Motivational Session on Entrepreneurship Development” to the NYKS Volunteers at the “12th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme” conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Assam in collaboration with Don Bosco Institute of Management.

Abhinav also conducted a series of Training sessions as a Resource Person on the topic “Team Work and Team Leadership” for Junior/Senior Administrative Assistants of Assam Secretariat, Government of Assam and he also imparted training on “Team Work” as a part of “Supervisor Development Programme” for the Postal Assistants of North Eastern Region of Department of Post, Govt. of India.
