Biography

Dr. Nilanjana Deb started her professional career as a teacher of Business Administration in September 1999 after completing her Post Graduation Studies leading to MBA Degree (with specialisation in Finance) from Tezpur University in the same year. She joined the Department of Business Administration, Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (currently Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam) in May 2008 as one of the founding teachers of the Department. In 2012, she earned a PhD. in Business Administration from Tezpur University, Assam. She has a great passion for teaching and research and this is the reason why she is into this profession.

She has an experience of 23+ years in teaching and she still visualise herself as an evolving teacher and researcher. She teaches UG and PG Courses and is actively involved with research work related to banking and other social and economic issues. Further, her role as a teacher is not confined to classroom teachings alone and she is fortunate to be a part of BoS of two Universities – Assam Science and Technology University (a Govt. of Assam University) and Girijananda Chowdhury University. Being a member of BoS (Management), ASTU and Member Secretary of BoS, School of Management and Commerce, GCU, she has been actively involved in curriculum innovation and designing the Course Structures of PhD, MBA and BBA Programmes under both the Universities.

Moreover, a vivid researcher with several research publications in Journals and Seminars/Conferences, she has been guiding PhD Research Scholars under the ASTU and currently under the GCU. One of her Research Scholars have been awarded the PhD Degree by the Assam Science and Technology University in 2022 while two more of her Research scholars are in final stage of submission of their theses under the same University.
Apart from teaching and research, she has also organised successfully two National-level training programmes for Faculty Members and Research Scholars namely Staff Development Programme (2012) and Short-Term Training Programme (2021) as Co-ordinator with funds granted by the AICTE. She has completed a RPS project with funding from AICTE in April 2023.

‘To inform, to inspire, and to ignite’ is her goal and she continuously tries to explore the realms of knowledge with her students. When she is not teaching, she enjoys reading, story telling, fostering kittens and playing indoor games.
