Department of Business Administration

The Department of Business Administration, established in July 2008, is committed to imparting quality management education in a stimulating, innovative and industry-oriented environment. The Department aims to develop competent, ethical and future-ready professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills and leadership capabilities required to excel in the dynamic world of business and management.

Initially, the Department offered a full-time MBA programme under Gauhati University and Assam Science and Technology University, with dual specialisation in Finance, Human Resource and Marketing. At present, the Department offers MBA, BBA, Integrated Programme in Management (BBA + MBA), MBA for Working Professionals and Ph.D. programmes under its own university – the Girijananda Chowdhury University – and caters to the diverse academic and professional needs of students, working executives and research scholars.

The Department continuously updates its programmes in line with emerging industry trends. Contemporary areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Business Analytics, Digital Transformation and Data-driven Decision Making etc. are incorporated into the curriculum to enhance students’ technological awareness, analytical abilities and employability. The focus is on the holistic development of students through a balanced blend of academic learning and practical exposure.

Experiential learning forms an integral part of the Department’s pedagogy through Summer Internship Projects, Capstone Projects, case studies, industry interactions, field-based assignments and presentations. These initiatives enable students to apply classroom concepts to real-world business situations and develop problem-solving, communication, leadership and decision-making skills.

The Department is supported by a young, dynamic and interdisciplinary faculty team with strong academic and industry exposure. Guided by the motto, “The urge to learn and make others learn,” the faculty incorporates contemporary teaching methodologies and emerging developments in management education.

The Department has a strong record of academic and professional achievements. Its first MBA batch secured 1st and 3rd positions in the Gauhati University MBA Final Examination, along with placement opportunities in reputed organizations. Subsequent batches have also demonstrated commendable academic performance and professional success.
