The Department of Computer Application was established in 2009 with the objective of promoting specialized knowledge in the field of Computer Science and Applications. In response to rapidly evolving technologies and the continuous need for innovation, the department actively fosters industry–institute collaboration by identifying and engaging in areas of mutual interest. The programmes offered by the department are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
Over the years, the department has successfully produced 16 batches of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) graduates and 7 batches of Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) graduates. Many of its alumni have secured placements in reputed national and international organizations, reflecting the department’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development.
In 2022, GIMT was upgraded and transformed into Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU). Since then, the MCA programme has been offered under the aegis of the University with the requisite approval from AICTE, continuing its tradition of quality education and industry-oriented learning.
The department aims to make a educational centre by producing high quality ethically and morally affluent computer professionals conversant with the state-of-the-art technology to cater the needs of ever changing industry and society.
