Background & Scope

Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) aims to spearhead the promotion of centers of excellence in nationwide research and development across a wide range of disciplines, including Engineering, Science and Technology, Pharmaceutical Science, Humanities, Management, and more. The university’s Research and Development Committee (RDC) is dedicated to cultivating an environment conducive to fostering innovative research through interdisciplinary collaboration. The institution’s research excellence is augmented by its exceptionally qualified and seasoned faculty members. GCU’s R&D facilities feature cutting-edge laboratories and resources furnished with modern instrumentation and technology. Recognizing the pivotal role of collaboration in research advancement, the university’s RDC actively extends partnerships with national and international academic institutions, research organizations, industries, and corporate entities. These collaborative endeavors facilitate the exchange of knowledge, joint research initiatives, and access to advanced research amenities. The university advocates for an interdisciplinary approach, promoting collaboration across diverse fields to address intricate challenges. Research and Development

Notification and Updates

Objective :

  1. To establish an organizational structure with role-specific functions for Research and Development Committees (RDC), devise Research Policies for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), delineate key research focus areas, and assemble relevant clusters of researchers into teams or consortia.
  2. To establish provisions within Research Policies for the recruitment of research staff, acquisition of equipment, and financial oversight, granting sufficient autonomy to Principal Investigators, and ensure the dissemination of research findings to stakeholders and the wider public.
  3. To establish a specialized entity aimed at advancing researchers and innovators, identifying prospective collaborators from industry, research institutions, academic bodies, and other stakeholders for collaborative and synergistic partnerships.
  4. To serve as an intermediary between researchers and pertinent research funding entities, offering assistance in the preparation and submission of project proposals, and post-approval, ensuring compliance with project timelines.
  5. To enhance and boost the coordination among other units or centers engaged in fostering university-industry linkages, incubation, innovation, entrepreneurship development, and intellectual property rights (IPR).
  6. To create an Institutional Research Information System for sharing the status of ongoing and completed research projects, programs, expertise, and resources. This system will leverage Information & Communication Technology (ICT) to develop a database of in-house experts to offer industrial consultancy and services.
  7. To engage and utilize the expertise of superannuated active faculty and scientists in building research capacity among talented young minds, and to promote the mobility of researchers across institutions and R&D labs.
  8. To act as a central hub for generating and conceptualizing research topics and themes by organizing workshops and training programs, while ensuring research integrity and
