The Department of Civil Engineering was established in August 2014 under Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, with affiliation to Assam Science and Technology University.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in September 2006 with the programme Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) under the affiliation of Gauhati University.
The Department of Electrical Engineering was started in July, 2008, initially under the Gauhati University to provide 4-year Bachelor degree in Electrical engineering.
Department initially started Bachelor of Engineering (E) Programme in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering affiliated to Gauhati University with initial intake of 60 students.
The 4-year degree course in Mechanical Engineering was started in July 2007. Gradually, the department has expanded to offer two years M. Tech program with specialization
