The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) Assam is now empowered vide AICTE notification number AICTE/P&AP/APH/2023-24/01, dated 24 August 2023, to offer a B. Tech program in Mechanical Engineering for working professionals. The B. Tech programme of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, GCU Assam, has been accredited by the NBA from 2016 till 2025. This accreditation enables graduates of this program to pursue career and education opportunities in all countries which are signatories to the Washington Accord such as USA, Australia, UK etc.
The AICTE has announced this degree course with an aim to enable working professionals to acquire higher education while they try to make a living as working professionals. B. Tech for working professionals is a 3 years undergraduate engineering programme including 6 semesters.
It is one of the most in-demand degrees as this course will be conducted in regular mode. It is designed to cater to the students’ needs keeping in mind the flexibility of time and accessible modes of study for working professionals.
Under the regulations of this course, working professionals with diplomas in Engineering or BSc degrees, are eligible to take admission into a regular B. Tech programme in Mechanical Engineering with course duration of three (03) years. Professionals having a minimum of 1 year working experience in registered industries, State and Central Government organizations, private companies, public limited companies and MSMEs, located within 50 km radius of the University offering the degree, can apply for this course.
