Biography

Dr. Nikhil Biswas is Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, India. He has over 11 years of professional experience, including five years of postdoctoral research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and more than six years of academic teaching experience at Girijananda Chowdhury University and other institutions.

Dr. Biswas obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, under the prestigious CSIR Direct Senior Research Fellowship. He completed his M. Pharm in Pharmaceutics from Dibrugarh University and his B. Pharm (Honours) from Jadavpur University. His research focuses on the design and development of advanced drug delivery systems, particularly liposomes and nanocarriers, to enhance the solubility, bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy of nutraceuticals and therapeutic agents. His work integrates formulation development with preclinical evaluation in cancer and Parkinson’s disease models, with emphasis on translational nanomedicine. Dr. Biswas has published 31 research articles in SCI-indexed international journals and has participated in several Faculty Development Programmes and training initiatives supported by AICTE, DST, and ICMR. He is actively engaged in mentoring postgraduate and doctoral researchers.

In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Biswas plays a key leadership role in academic administration and quality assurance. He serves as Head of the Department and NBA Coordinator, and under his leadership, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences achieved NBA accreditation (2025–2028), reflecting sustained academic excellence. He also serves as Member Secretary of the Institutional Biosafety Committee and is a member of the Board of Studies, IQAC, and NAAC committees, contributing to institutional governance and academic quality enhancement. Dr. Biswas is a Life Member of UNESCO and remains actively committed to advancing pharmaceutical sciences through research and education.
