The Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Tezpur campus, came together to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and national pride.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Prof. Abdul Baquee Ahmed, Principal of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the presence of faculty members, staff, and students. The flag hoisting was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, filling the campus with a sense of unity and patriotism.
In his address, Prof. Ahmed reflected on the true meaning of freedom. His words inspired the audience to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, and service to the nation.
The event also featured heartfelt speeches from Mr. Farak Ali, Assistant Professor and Host of the celebration, and Mr. Alakesh Keot, Assistant General Secretary of the university’s Student Council, who shared their thoughts on patriotism and the responsibilities of the younger generation in nation-building.
