Department of History

The Department of History established in 2023 envisions to embark on a gratifying journey in the creation of future historians with tremendous calibre and competence. The Department wishes to produce original thinkers with critical acumen and the ability and courage to question the past in order to resolve problems and issues of the present.

To produce future competent historians and global citizens imbued with the values of compassion, sensitivity and a sense of respect for other cultures and communities irrespective of race, caste, class, gender, religion and geography.

1. To develop critical and independent thinking.
2. Enable students to question historical data.
3. To provide theoretical and practical knowledge through teaching and research in the discipline of History through visits to the archives, museums, screening historical documentaries and movies.
4. To lay emphasis on interdisciplinary learning for holistic development of students.
5. To encourage students to go beyond the domain of only knowledge.
6. To take lessons from the past to understand the historical processes that led to blunders made by our ancestors and what processes essentially led to the development of certain values essential for the progress of human civilization and culture.
