Dr. Manjula Kalita is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Girijananda Chowdhury University. She joined the department in July 2008 and has been serving the institution with dedication and academic excellence. She completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Gauhati University in November 2025. Her primary research area is the application of deep learning to medical data.
She has published research papers in reputed journals indexed in Scopus, SCIE, IEEE, and other peer-reviewed journals, with the highest impact factor of 5.7. She also serves as a peer reviewer for reputed international journals. In addition, she has contributed book chapters in reputed publishers.
Mrs. Kalita has extensive teaching experience across a wide range of subjects, including C Programming, Object-Oriented Programming using C++, Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, Database Management Systems, Software Engineering, and Distributed Systems. She also has substantial experience as a project guide for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
She has rich experience in organizing and conducting Seminars, Workshops, and Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs). She also served as the editor of the departmental technical magazine for two years. She has actively participated in several state, national and international level conferences, workshops, seminars, training programmes, and FDPs, and has presented research papers at international conferences. She has successfully completed several SWAYAM courses.
She has held key academic and administrative roles such as Institutional SIRO Coordinator (2019–2021), ERP Coordinator (2022–2023), Social Welfare Club Coordinator (2024 onwards), and Departmental NBA Programme Coordinator (Apr 2022–March 2025), Placement Coordinator (2026 onwards), M.Tech. Coordinator, B.Tech. Semester Coordinator, B.Tech Project Coordinator etc.
Her academic qualifications include Higher Secondary (Science) from B. Borooah College; B.Sc. under Gauhati University; M.Sc. in Computer Science from Gauhati University; M.Tech. in Information Technology from Tezpur University; and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Gauhati University.
She is a life member of ISTE and ASS. She has secured First Class throughout her academic career and was awarded the NEC Scholarship during her M.Tech.
