Dr. Snehal Kaushik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Guwahati (GCU). She earned her B.E. in Civil Engineering from Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science, Nagpur University, in 1997, followed by an M.Tech in Structural Engineering in 1999 from VRCE (Now VNIT) Nagpur.
Dr. Kaushik served as a Senior Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur for eight years before pursuing her Ph.D. at IIT Guwahati, which she completed in 2018. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at GIMT in 2018 and has been serving as an Associate Professor at GCU since 2022.
Her academic and research focus is on structural engineering, specifically in earthquake-resistant design, nonlinear behavior, and seismic retrofitting of structures. Dr. Kaushik is a life member of the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET), IIT Roorkee, and actively participates in ISET’s Guwahati chapter. She is also member of National Information Center of Earthquake Engineering (NICEE) at IIT Kanpur and Structural Engineering Forum of India (SEFI). She has also chaired and co-chaired several conferences on earthquake engineering.
Dr. Kaushik has published extensively in national and international journals and conferences and has served as a reviewer for leading journals. Additionally, she has contributed significantly to institutional development through roles in major committees, including the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
Her vision is to create resilient structures that not only withstand the forces of earthquakes but also safeguard lives and livelihoods. By integrating advanced design techniques and sustainable practices, she aims to develop innovative solutions that balance safety, functionality, and environmental responsibility, ensuring a safer future for communities worldwide.
