Biography

Dr. Liza Kalita joined the School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences in the department of Plant Pathology, as an Assistant Professor on November 6, 2025. She obtained her Master’s degree in Plant Pathology from Central Agricultural University, Imphal and pursued her doctoral degree in Plant Pathology from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab. Her reasearch expertise encompasses diverse area of Plant Pathology including mycology, soil microbiology, nematology and plant-microbe interactions. During her doctoral research, Dr. Kalita was awarded the prestigious Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Long-Term Doctoral Fellowship in recognition of her academic excellence and research potential. She has also qualified the ICAR-National Eligibility Test (NET) in Plant Pathology.
 
Dr. Liza’s research work primarily focuses on understanding plant disease complexes and developing sustainable disease management strategies through integrated and eco-friendly approaches. She has hands-on experience in various microbiological and molecular techniques, and has actively worked on the role of soil disinfestation approaches in managing soil-borne pathogens and improving soil health.
 
In addition to her research expertise, Dr Liza is well-versed in the application of statistical and analytical tools for data interpretation and modelling. She is proficient in various statistical softwares such as SPSS and R. She actively engages in scientific writing, manuscript preparation and dissemination of research outcomes with the goal of contributing to the advancement of plant pathology and agricultural sciences.
