Biography

Dr. Elangbam Bidyarani Devi joined the Department of Entomology as an Assistant Professor on October 13, 2025 at the School of Agriculture & Allied Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur. At present, she is teaching the curriculum courses of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agri. Prior to this, she worked in the All India Network Project on Soil Arthropod Pests, Department of Entomology, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat as a Senior Research Fellow where she focused on soil arthropod pests and demonstrating her strong commitment to agricultural research and extension activities. She was involved in active participation of social engineering/extension activities in white grub (Lepidiota mansueta) endemic areas in Majuli river island of Assam. With a strong research background and significant extension experience, she has contributed notably involved in survey and collection of soil arthropod pests (i.e., white grub beetles, red ants, termite, cutworm, field crickets, mole crickets, etc.) from different locations and also involved in method demonstration by imparting farmers training programmes etc. Her dedication to sustainable agriculture, eco-friendly pest management and farmer-oriented pest control strategies underscores her professional excellence and academic commitment.

She completed her Ph.D. (Agri.) in Entomology from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, post-graduation from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad and undergraduate from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. She also qualified ICAR-NET thrice during 2014, 2015 and 2017 conducted by ASRB, New Delhi. Apart from this, she is also involved and actively taking part in various seminars, conferences, workshops, farmers fairs and webinars to enlighten her knowledge.
