Institutional ethics committee members of GCU attended the second national workshop on Good Clinical Practice, a two days National level workshop held at AIIMS Guwahati on 28-29th June 2024. A total of six GCU ethics committee Members Dr.Vidhya Srinivasan, Dr. Damiki Laloo, Dr.Nikhil Biswas, Dr.Rachel Kabi, Dr. Akshay Chandra Deka and Dr.Sanjib Kr Kalita attended the workshop. The sessions highlighted the role of ethics committee in fostering transparency, accountability, and trust. Some of noteworthy session of the two day workshop includes sessions on ICMR guidelines, Ethical reviews and types, Ethics committee registration in DHR portal and clinical trail registration. Dr. Roli Mathur, Scientist-F & Head, ICMR Bioethics Unit gave brief session on National ethics guidelines and ICMR initiatives in research ethics. Prof. Bikash Medhi, Professor, Pharmacology, PGIMER briefed on the Ethical review of Protocols, types of review and decisions. Dr. Sujata Sinha, Scientist-D, National Ethics Committee Registry, DHR gave session on Registration of ethics committee in DHR-NAITIK Portal. Dr.Vishnu Vardhan Rao, Director, ICMR National institute of Medical statistics briefed on the CTRI and clinicaltrail Gov registration. There were also hands on training given for the protocol writing. The two days ethics committee workshop was intensive and enlightening event aimed at enhancing the understanding of Ethics committee. The workshop brought together experts, Clinicians and participants from diverse background together to engage in discussion, case studies and practical exercises.
