ANEMOMETER PROTOTYPE

ETYMOLOGY

An anemometer prototype is a device used to measure wind speed and direction. It’s commonly used in meteorology, environmental monitoring, and industrial applications. A prototype is an initial working model built to demonstrate and test the design, functionality, and performance of an anemometer before mass production.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

  • Wind Interaction: As wind blows, it interacts with the sensing element. For a cup anemometer, this causes the cups to rotate. The faster the wind, the faster the rotation.
  • Signal Conversion: The microcontroller reads the mechanical movement (rotation or deflection) and converts it into an electrical signal.
  • Calculation: The microcontroller calculates the wind speed based on the sensor’s movement and displays the value on the screen.

APPLICATIONS

  • Weather Stations: To measure wind speed and provide data for weather forecasting.

  • Environmental Monitoring: For tracking wind conditions in various environments, including urban areas and forests.

  • Industrial Applications: Used in industries to monitor airflow in ventilation systems or in wind energy generation.
