The Department of Civil Engineering at Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Guwahati, organized an industrial visit to the Guwahati–North Guwahati Bridge construction site near Machkhowa on February 10, 2025. This visit was specifically designed for B.Tech 8th Semester students, providing them with hands-on experience and practical insights into bridge construction.
During the visit, students received an overview of the project, including various casting methods, machinery operations, stress transfer mechanisms, and pre-stressing techniques. Site engineers Mr. Biswajit Das and Mr. Manoj Sarma (Assistant Engineers, PWD Roads) guided the students, helping them connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
The visit was led by Dr. Snehal Kaushik (Associate Professor) and Mrs. Nitisha Mazumdar (Assistant Professor) from the Department of Civil Engineering, GCU. A total of thirteen students participated in the visit and greatly benefited from the experience.
