The Anti-Ragging Committee of Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur Campus observed the National Anti-Ragging Week from 13th to 18th August 2025 through a series of engaging and awareness-driven events. The initiative aimed to sensitize students about the consequences of ragging while promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
The program includes a short speech from the Principal, Prof. Abdul Baquee Ahmed, followed by a Drama Performance where we observe a collaborative drama performance by senior and junior students, highlighting themes of friendship, unity, and the harmful effects of ragging. The act was lauded for its strong message and portrayal of harmony between existing and new students. The next program includes a Rangoli Competition where the students participated in a creative Rangoli-making contest using natural items, with designs symbolizing anti-ragging messages and the vision of a ragging-free campus. The competition also gave students a platform to share personal insights and experiences, making the session both creative and impactful. The observance concluded with vibrant cultural performances where students showcased their talents through songs and acts celebrating unity, respect, and diversity, spreading the message of togetherness. The program was convened by Dr. Supriya Sahu, Coordinator and the members of Anti-Ragging Committee of GCU Tezpur campus.
The week-long observance successfully reinforced awareness against ragging and emphasized the university’s zero-tolerance policy towards such practices. By engaging students in interactive and creative ways, the events strengthened the collective responsibility of fostering a harmonious and respectful environment on campus.
