Cyber Scam Awareness Program

The Social Welfare Club, in collaboration with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), organized an informative Cyber Scam Awareness Program for the university’s housekeeping staff at the GCU campus, Guwahati, Assam on 14th October 2025. The initiative aimed to educate support staff about the rising cases of online frauds and safe digital practices.

The session began with a brief introduction to highlight the importance of cyber safety in daily life. Student volunteers from the Social Welfare Club and NCC explained common types of online scams such as phishing messages, OTP frauds, UPI payment scams, fake job offers, and social media impersonation. The participants were also made aware of basic preventive measures, including verifying sources before sharing personal information, avoiding suspicious links, and reporting cybercrimes through the official helpline number.

Interactive demonstrations and real-life examples helped the participants understand how easily digital traps can occur and how to stay alert.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Club Coordinator, third semester B.Tech. student and also bearing NCC rank UO Dwij Raj Bhagawati, who appreciated the active participation of the housekeeping staff and the support from NCC cadets in making the event successful. The event reinforced the university’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and social responsibility among all sections of its community.
