The AICTE-sponsored State Level IDE Boot Camp at Girijananda Chowdhury University in Assam was successfully inaugurated on 29th November 2024, marking the beginning of an impactful initiative aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurial skills among participants. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Nirada Devi (Director, SCERT, Assam), Dr. Hirak Ranjan Das (Nodal Centre Head), and Shri Vidhikar Vishal (Nodal Centre Coordinator) from the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. They were joined by Shri Jasoda Ranjan Das, Hon’ble President of SSA Society, and Prof. Jayanta Deka, Hon’ble Chancellor of Girijananda Chowdhury University.
The inaugural session began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a series of engaging and insightful presentations. Mr. Sreevatsan, the Master Trainer from Wadhwani Foundation, conducted interactive sessions on the topics “Spark Quest: Introduction to Innovation and Design Thinking Principles,” “Find Your Flow: Discovering Your Inner Entrepreneurial Skills,” and “Innovation: A Path to Problem and Opportunity Identification.” Ms. Anusuya Mahanta from IIM Calcutta Innovation Park also contributed to the event with her talk on “Inspire to Start: Mentoring the Next Generation of Young Innovators,” where she shared valuable insights on nurturing the entrepreneurial mindset in young innovators.
An important part of the boot camp was the observational tour of the AICTE-IDEA Lab, DST-FIST Lab, and Central Instrument Lab.
The day concluded with a session focused on the School Innovation Council (SIC), a key initiative by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) to promote innovation in schools across India. Dr. Elangovan Kariappan, Assistant Innovation Director at MIC, highlighted the objectives of SIC and shared information about the School Innovation Contest, where the top 200 innovations will receive funding of up to ₹1.5 lakh each.
