The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, organised an industrial visit to the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) at IIT Guwahati on 11th November 2025, with 22 students (from the 2024-28 and 2025-29 batches) and 3 faculty members. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to ongoing technological research and innovation in electronics and related areas. During the visit, students were briefed about the objectives and activities of the TIH under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) by Dr. Pratiksha Sarma.
The experts from IIT Guwahati demonstrated various research projects and startups incubated under the hub, highlighting applications in Drone technologies, ROV systems, 3D printing technologies, Robotics, AI, IoT systems, and PCB fabrication. Students interacted with researchers and faculty members, gaining insights into advanced research methodologies, industrial collaborations, and the innovation ecosystem that bridges academia and industry. The visit helped students understand the relevance of interdisciplinary learning and its role in solving real-world engineering problems. Overall, the industrial visit was highly informative and motivating. It enhanced students’ awareness of cutting-edge technological developments and encouraged them to pursue innovative research and entrepreneurship in their future careers. The industrial visit was coordinated by Mr Abhinandan Kalita, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, GCU Assam.
