Agriculture is the predominant source of livelihood of about 58 % of Indian population. Indian agriculture has undergone a sea change since independence bringing in technology advancements, income enhancements, food and livelihood security, rural prosperity and sustainable development. In recent time, agriculture has created opened up remarkable opportunities of entrepreneurship and agribusiness.

The School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences under Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam in the constituent campus at Tezpur aligns with broader objectives of elevating agriculture to a smart agri-business entity, leveraging state bio-resources for global bio-economy and strengthening institutional social responsibility for socioeconomic development. These objectives could be achieved by delivering high quality education to instill professionalism and scientific expertise; conducting location specific research on agriculture-based farming systems to meet people’s needs and fostering agri-entrepreneurship for socio-economic development.

Specific aims will be to meet demand for skilled manpower in agriculture sector, quality education, innovation and research, entrepreneurship and agribusiness and diversification of agriculture with a final goal towards sustainable economic development of the country.

Eligibility

Must have passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board/ council/ university with at least three subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agriculture/Inter-Agriculture as core courses.

Course Fees

Admission fee = Rs. 10,000/- (one time), Caution money = Rs. 10,000/- (one time),
1st year fee=Rs. 90,000/- and Examination fee as applicable.
