Dr. Abhijit Das has joined as an Assistant Professor in the School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur, on 17th August, 2026. He is an academic and researcher specializing in Agricultural Economics, with research interests in impact analysis, agricultural supply chains, consumer behaviour, price analysis, climate economics, and dairy economics.
He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Haryana, where his doctoral research focused on the “Economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic on dairy sector of West Bengal.” He completed his M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Bihar, with his postgraduate research focusing on “An economic appraisal of small tea farms of Sonitpur district (Assam).” He completed his B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Assam Agricultural University, Assam, in 2017, with first-class academic standing. He has also qualified UGC-NET in Agricultural Economics.
Before joining Girijananda Chowdhury University, Dr. Das served as an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University, Punjab, where he was involved in teaching, research, student mentoring, and academic activities. He has experience in teaching agricultural economics and allied subjects and has guided and mentored undergraduate students in various academic and field-based activities.
Dr. Das has authored and co-authored more than 30 research articles, including publications in Scopus-indexed journals, along with books, book chapters, and popular articles. His research has been published in journals including the Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, Indian Journal of Dairy Science, Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Current Science, and Discover Agriculture.
He has received several academic and research awards, including the First Best Paper Award from the Indian Dairy Association in 2026, Best Master’s Thesis Award, Best Article Award, and Best Presentation Awards at international conferences. He was also awarded the ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute Fellowship during his Ph.D. and the ICAR-National Talent Scholarship during his M.Sc.
