Workshop on 3D Printing – Technologies and Applications

With the intent to foster creativity and promote the socialization of education, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in collaboration with AMTRON, organized a workshop on “3D Printing: Technologies and Applications” on 12th March 2024.

The workshop focused on the utility of 3D printing as a tool to promote problem-solving skills, design thinking, and collaboration among students. 3D printing is a process that enables the creation of three-dimensional objects from digital files, allowing the production of complex geometries and custom parts that are often not possible to manufacture using traditional methods.

The workshop served as an exploratory learning experience for students, helping them understand how 3D printing can be leveraged to create economic opportunities across diverse domains such as healthcare, manufacturing, drones and aerospace, fashion and accessories, and the oil and gas industry.

Dr. Prashant Jindal, Associate Professor, UIET, Panjab University, and Honorary Advisor for Industry 4.0 with AMTRON, graced the workshop as the resource person.

The interactive session between the students and the resource person provided valuable insights into the role of 3D printing in enhancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, facilitating a better understanding of complex technological concepts.

A total of 78 students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering participated in the workshop.
