The Department of Applied and Behavioural Psychology is designed to provide a comprehensive and practice-oriented learning environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with real-world application. Grounded in strong foundations of behavioral health, the programme equips students with skills in behavioral health assessment, intervention planning, and implementation, while emphasizing effective communication and relationship building. Through a balanced curriculum that includes papers such as General Psychology, Biological Basis of Behaviour, Indian Psychology Application, Understanding the Self and Other, Positive Psychology and Theories of Personality, Developmental Psychology, and Holistic Well-being Approaches, students gain a multidimensional understanding of human behaviour. The inclusion of Cyber Hygiene & Digital Safety, Listening Skills and Observation-Based Report Writing, and Community Psychology, along with a project on community care services, strengthens competencies in health promotion, prevention, and community engagement. The programme also introduces students to behavioral health policies, behavioral disorders and their treatment, and emphasizes research and evidence-based practice. The department encourages personal and professional growth, preparing students to become competent, ethical, and socially responsible behavioural health professionals.

Mission
  1. To provide a strong academic foundation in behavioural health through interdisciplinary learning, evidence-based practice, and skill-oriented training.
  2. To promote ethical standards, cultural awareness, effective communication, and professional competence in assessment, intervention, and community engagement.
  3. To encourage research, policy awareness, and outreach initiatives that support prevention, mental health promotion, and inclusive well-being.
  4. To strengthen students’ competencies through experiential learning, fieldwork, and community-based projects that bridge theory with real-life behavioural health practices.
  5. To build collaborative partnerships with healthcare institutions, NGOs, and community organizations for advancing mental health awareness, service delivery, and professional training.
Vision

The vision of the Department of Applied and Behavioural Psychology is to emerge as a centre of excellence in behavioural health education, fostering holistic well-being and socially responsible practices. It aspires to nurture competent and ethical professionals who integrate scientific knowledge with cultural sensitivity to address diverse psychological needs.
