On 12th February 2025, the Department of Civil Engineering at Girijananda Chowdhury University organized a hands-on training session on “Supervising and Recording Measurements of Government Building Projects.” The session was conducted by Mr. Gitartha Kalita, Assistant Engineer, PWD, Kaliabor and Barhampur Territorial Building Division, Kaliabor.
The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical knowledge required for government engineering jobs. Key topics covered included site measurement recording using a Measurement Book, preparation of abstracts, comparative statements, deviation reports, and working estimates. The importance of verifying NOCs, BOQs, work orders, and material certifications was also emphasized.
Students gained practical insights into site supervision, measurement documentation, and the responsibilities of engineers in government projects. The session was highly informative and equipped students with essential skills for future roles in public sector construction and project management.
