To disseminate multi-faceted high-quality education and foster the holistic development of the students, the Department of Political Science at Girijananda Chowdhury University is established in the year 2023. The Department aspires to become a centre for academic excellence in Political Studies throughout the entire North-eastern Region and in India by offering a wide range of courses to enhance each student’s necessary skills.

The department was created to provide learning spaces to instilla passion for excellence that helps the students to create a better tomorrow. Our vision is to mould the personality of the students both within and beyond classroom, so that the students graduated from this institution emerge as a different person — more mature, shaped and inspired.
As the Head, Department of Political Science, I am proud to say that my colleagues are always ready with passion to inspire hope among the students. They are instrumental in creating a warm environment, where they mentor and nurture the students with care.
Our department offers exciting opportunities for undergraduate and post-graduate education. We also offer PhD programs to the potential researchers. We offer courses and programs in all the major sub-fields of political science. There are also opportunities to do joint and interdisciplinary programs that allow the students to combine their interest in political science with the coursework in other disciplines. The aim of the department is to pursue academic excellence and all-round development of the students, so that they become profound scholars, sincere researchers and, most importantly, responsible citizens.
