Sidhant Tamang is a pharmacy professional with a strong academic background in Pharmacognosy and a keen interest in teaching and research. He joined Girijananda Chowdhury University(Tezpur Campus) as a Lecturer on 19th december 2025. He completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) from Himalayan Pharmacy Institute, Majhitar, Sikkim, in 2023, followed by a Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) in Pharmacognosy from the same institution, completing his postgraduate studies in 2025. He is also a qualified GPAT 2023 candidate.
At Girijananda Chowdhury University, Sidhant is involved in teaching core pharmacognosy subjects to undergraduate students, with an emphasis on building strong conceptual foundations in medicinal plants, crude drugs, and natural products, along with their relevance to pharmaceutical and healthcare applications. His teaching approach focuses on clarity, systematic understanding of plant-based drugs, and application-oriented learning, aimed at preparing students for both academic advancement and professional practice.
His academic interests lie in medicinal plants, natural products, traditional healthcare systems, and herbal drug formulation, with a focus on linking traditional knowledge to modern pharmaceutical research. He has actively participated in national and international conferences and seminars, presenting multiple posters on topics related to natural products, sustainable drug chemistry, and healthcare transformation.
Sidhant has authored and co-authored research and review publications in reputed journals, covering areas such as polyherbal formulations, ethnomedicinal plants of North-East India, and pharmacognostic evaluation of medicinal species.
