Nasreen Ahmed is an academician and researcher in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, born in Sivasagar, Assam. She completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy from Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, under Assam Science and Technology University. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD at Girijananda Chowdhury University, focusing on areas such as computer-aided drug design, novel and hybrid drug synthesis, characterization, novel drug design, and evaluation of antimalarial agents.
On August 19, 2024, Nasreen joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tezpur Campus, Girijananda Chowdhury University, as an Assistant Professor. In her role, she teaches courses, which include Pharmaceutical Chemistry for D. Pharm first-year students and Pharmacotherapeutics for D. Pharm second-year students. She had completed her required hours of industrial training at Eris Life Sciences Limited, Amingaon, Guwahati, as well as hospital training at Sivasagar Civil Hospital. This practical experience has contributed to her comprehensive background in pharmaceutical sciences, complementing her academic qualifications.
Prior to her academic career, Nasreen gained 2.5 years of industrial experience at Hetero Healthcare, Changsari, Assam. She also has teaching experience at Royal Global University and NEF College of Pharmacy, Guwahati, Assam. She participated in a training program titled “Exposure to Advanced Scientific Research” as part of the SERB-CRG SSR Activity at NIPER Guwahati, Assam, India. Additionally, she presented a scientific poster at the 69th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) held at Chitkara University, Rajpura. Her poster was titled “Isolation of Polysaccharide from the Flower of Cucurbita maxima and Screening its Potency Antioxidants and Antimicrobial Activities,” showcasing her research on the extraction and potential health benefits of polysaccharides from this plant. Throughout her career, she has actively participated in numerous national and international conferences and workshops, contributing to her professional development and expertise in the field.
