Biography

Ms. Poulami Patra is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Tezpur, Assam. She has previously worked at Brainware University, Kharagpur Pharmaceutical Institute and M. R. College of Pharmaceutical Science & Research, gaining valuable academic and professional experience in the pharmaceutical sciences.

She is presently pursuing her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam. Ms. Patra holds a Master of Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) degree from Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata, where she graduated. She completed her Bachelor of Pharmacy at the same institute. She also holds a Diploma in Pharmacy from Sree Ramkrishna Silpa Vidyapith, Birbhum.

Her research interests include drug design, computational chemistry, and pharmaceutical analysis. She has published in reputed journals, including a recent article on targeting glutamatergic transmission in neuropsychiatric disorders (Biochemical and Cellular Archives, 2024). Her academic projects reflect her focus on modern drug discovery and natural product applications, such as in silico screening of metformin as a potential lead for colorectal carcinoma and the formulation of herbal beverage.

Ms. Patra has actively participated in conferences, poster presentations, and faculty development programs, including the APTI-coordinated FDP on “Research and Patenting in Pharmacy” in 2024. In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, Ms. Patra has actively presented her work at national conferences and workshops, including Jadavpur University, CSIR-IICB, and Brainware University. She is a Life Member of the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI). Her technical skills span UV-visible spectroscopy, computer-aided drug design, QSAR and 3D-QSAR modelling, pharmacophore modelling, and advanced software applications in pharmaceutical sciences.

Beyond academics and research, Ms. Patra enjoys travelling, which enriches her personal growth and broadens her perspective, complementing her professional journey in pharmaceutical education and research.
