Miss Jyotima Nath joined the Department of Botany, School of Natural Science as an Assistant Professor on September 2023. At present, she is teaching and guiding the students of BSc Botany and MSc Botany and setting up the department for the upcoming academic year. Prior to this, sheworked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Botany, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya. There she taught UG as well as PG students of Botany. And did dissertation work in various topics. She have experience of guiding students for competitive exams in the field of Life Science like NET, SLET, GATE, DBT etc.
Her under-graduation (BSc) is in Botany from Cotton University Guwahati. She then carried out her post-graduation (MSc) in Botany itself with Cell and Molecular Biology and Genetics as specialization.Her schooling was done from Changsari and Higher secondary in Science from Cotton College. Throughout her school life, Jyotima was involved in several academic and extra-curricular activities.
She has a record of qualifying various central level exams like CSIR UGC NET in Life Science with all India Rank 75. She is also a SLET Life Science topper from all over North East India. She qualified other exams like DBT BET , GATE XL (LIFE SCIENCE) & GATE EY (ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT).
Jyotima is interested in attending various workshops and webinars related to biology. She has done various workshops on Molecular Modelling, Drug Discovery using CRISPR, Artificial intelligence in Biology, CRISPR advanced technology, Biomarker Discovery, Next Generation sequencing etc. She has also presented paper in various National and International Seminars.
Apart from academics, Jyotima is quite active in cultural activities mainly with dance. a In her free timeshe likes to read, play badminton, and explore music from various artists.
