Mr. Hirakjyoti Sarma is currently working as a Guest Faculty in the Department of English and Foreign Languages, GCU. He is a popular name in the field of Assamese folk culture. He is one of the youngest folk artist from Assam, who is continuously working to promote Assamese folk culture across the globe. He has also participated in many competitions and was able to achieve accolades in both national and international level. He is a former student of Gauhati University and completed his MA in Assamese literature from the University. He also served as the Cultural Secretary of Gauhati University in the year 2018-19. Student of Veteran folk artists, Sangeet Natak Academy awardee late Umakanta Bairagi, Hirakjyoti Sarma is currently a Research Scholar of the Department of Performing Arts at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Vishwavidyalaya, Nagaon. He was awarded the Young Talent Artist Award under the Ministry of Culture of Govt. of India 2021-22. He has also participated as a Resource Person in different educational and cultural institutions in different parts of the country. He has presented papers in both national and international seminars and conferences.
