Dr. Smriti Rekha Chanda Das (b. 30 September 1980) is currently serving as Professor in the School of Pharmaceutical Science at Girijananda Chowdhury University, Azara, Guwahati, Assam.
She completed her B.Pharm from University of North Bengal (2003), M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (2006), and earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacy from Gauhati University in 2020.
With nearly 19 years of teaching experience, Dr. Das has been associated with Girijananda Chowdhury University since 2008. She has also held key administrative roles, including Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Superintendent of the Girls’ Hostel.
Her research focuses on medicinal chemistry, phytochemistry and bioactive natural products. She has guided six Ph.D. scholars, multiple postgraduate dissertations, and over forty undergraduate research projects. Dr. Das has published 25 research papers in national and international journals, authored two books, contributed to several book chapters, and holds two granted patents.
A recipient of the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Technical Leadership from the CMI, London UK. and certified mentor under AICTE, she actively participates in faculty development programs, conferences, and academic leadership initiatives. She is a life member of the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India(APTI) and continues to contribute to academic governance, accreditation processes (NAAC/NBA), and student development activities at the university level. She was awarded with “Bharat Gaurav Puraskar”by KTK outstanding achievers and Education foundation, New Delhi in the year 2020.
