Biography

Dr. Sangeeta Das is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) Assam where she has been a faculty member since 2010. She obtained her B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tezpur University, India in 2010 and M.Tech degree in Thermal and Fluid Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, India in 2013. She is a recipient of gold medal in B.Tech for securing first class first position from Tezpur University.

Dr. Das received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh, India in 2019. Her research interests lie in the area of Manufacturing Technology and Materials Tribology. Her PhD work involved the investigation of tribological properties of a novel glass ceramic material. She has successfully completed a collaborative research project titled “Enhancement of tribological properties of various cutting tools through microtexturing during manufacturing” funded by MHRD with a total amount of Rs 3,00,000/- (Three lakhs only).

Dr. Das has published 13 research papers in International journals and 9 book chapters in
different books with various publishers. She has presented papers in various international conferences and attended different workshops and faculty development programmes. She also acts as a reviewer to different International journals like Advances in Materials and Processing Technologies, Materials, Materials Today Proceedings, Multidiscipline Modeling in Materials and Structures, Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, etc. Dr. Das is a lifetime member of ‘Tribology Society of India’ (LM#5830).
