Dr. Prakash Khundrakpam joined the Department of Political Science, as an Assistant Professor on 18th August 2025. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Professor at Unity College, Dimapur. Dr. Khundrakpam has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Gauhati University. His doctoral work was funded by the UGC NET-JRF. He also holds MA and BA(Hons) degrees in Political Science from Indira Gandhi National University, New Delhi (A Central University) and University of Delhi, respectively.
Dr. Khundrakpam’s research interests include political theory, Gandhian thought, gender and policy analysis. His works have appeared in several reputed international and national journals such as Social Sciences and Humanities Open (Elsevier, Q1), Women Studies International Forum (Elsevier, Q1), Indian Journal of Public Administration (SAGE Publications) and Indian Journal of Political Science. He has a total of 11 publications, of which 4 are in SCOPUS-indexed journals and 7 in UGC-CARE I listed journals. He is also the recipient of the “Letter of Appreciation” awarded by the HonourableVice-Chancellor of Gauhati University on 26th January 2025 in recognition of publishing in good quality journals.
Dr. Khundrakpam has presented several papers in national and international conferences/seminars. He has also delivered a joint keynote address at the 1st International Virtual Summit on Medical Sociology and Public Health, organized jointly by Huston-Tillotson University, USA & FJWU, Pakistan, on 2-4 December, 2021. Additionally, he was the Invited Discussant at ICWA Young Scholars’ Conference on “India and the Reformed Multi-Polar World Order”, organized by Indian Council of World Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, GOI, New Delhi, on 6th October, 2023. He was also the invited resource person for a session on “Understanding the World of Publishing: Scopus, Web of Sciences (ESCI, SCI, SSCI, AHCI), ABDC Journals & Impact factor”, on 21st Feb 2025; during the10 Days ICCSR Sponsored Research Methodology Programme at Nagaland University (A Central University) from 19th to 28th February 2025.
Dr. Khundrakpam is also an active member of the academic community when it comes to volunteer service and other aspects. He has served as a reviewer for various journals including Politics and Religion(Cambridge University Press), Indian Journal of Public Administration (SAGE Publications) and The International Journal of Interdisciplinary Civic and Political Studies (CGRN, USA). He is also a Life Member of the Indian Political Science Association.
