Biography

Dr. Nirmala Devi is presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Girijananda Chowdhury University, Azara, Guwahati, Assam. Prior to this, she worked in National Institute of Technology, Nagaland and Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology, Jaipur as Assistant Professor and Senior Assistant Professor respectively. She also worked as an adjunct faculty in Huston-Tillotson University, Austin, Texas, USA.

She has 14 years of experience in the field of Chemical Sciences after her Ph.D. During this period, she has been involved in research and teaching of both undergraduate and post graduate students; research project investigation, supervising junior research fellows (JRF), bachelors, masters and doctoral dissertation including other academic activities. She has been granted with four funded projects from different funding agencies like DST, NEC and ASTEC. Dr. Devi has presented several papers in international conferences abroad as well as in India. She has publications in highly reputed international and national journals. She is also a peer reviewer of several reputed international journals and keeps keen interest in social and community service. Her thrust areas of research interest include Polymers, Plastic Materials and Nanocomposites, Drug Delivery, Controlled and Smart release fertilizers and pesticides, Micro and nano encapsulation, Plant seed oil-based resins, Biopolymers and Food Packaging.

Dr Nirmala Devi is a National Award-winning Scientist (Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India) and a prolific writer. She is a popular columnist in Niyomiya Barta, a daily newspaper, and an author of several books in Assamese language. Teaching, popularizing science & technology and inspiring young minds are her passions.
