Biography

Dr. Mona Alice Marbaniang is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Girijananda Chowdhury University. She embarked on her journey in the social work industry in 2012 as an undergraduate student. She pursued a Master’s degree in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences- Guwahati Campus, specializing in Community Organization and Development Practice, where she gained comprehensive experience in community work. She completed her MPhil in psychiatric social work at LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur, where she gained extensive clinical experience in patient care and family interventions through facilitating group therapies, providing individual, family, and couples counseling, and supporting patients in rehabilitation centres. After gaining expertise in mental health through her MPhil, she pursued a PhD in Social Work at Tezpur University. Her research focused on ‘Psychosocial Intervention for Mothers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder,’ during which she developed a psychosocial intervention module to be used in the study. Throughout her academic and professional career, Dr. Marbaniang has published several papers in reputable journals, contributing valuable insights to the field of social work. Dr. Mona Alice Marbaniang has demonstrated comprehensive engagement in social work, with extensive experience in both community and mental health sectors.
