Dr. Madhumita Mahanta joined Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (presently Girijananda Chowdhury University) in July, 2008. She holds a Ph.D from Gauhati University. She has worked on Visco-elatic second order fluid (one kind of non-Newtonian Fluid) model. She teaches basic algebra, calculus, numerical methods, differential equations and mechanics in BCA, B.Tech and B. Sc. Courses. She authored a textbook in Engineering Mathematics.
Unlike reading, math is not always understood as essential or attainable. Math education is found daunting for many students in the higher classes due to some limitations. She is into her constant effort to promote enthusiasm and positivity in math class.
Apart from the teaching-learning, she served the institution as the Dean, Student Affairs from 15 September 2020 to 02 January 2023. She is a motivator and helps students to take part in co- curricular activities which fuel their learning by stimulating creative thought, improving social and organizational skills, developing interests and talents, and offering the chance to switch off and do something they really enjoy.
During her time off from teaching, she listens to music, reads, visits family and friends. She loves to do gardening and feeding birds. Being with nature gives her a sense of beautiful peace.
